The Department of Thoracic and Vascular Surgery, established on August 31, 2017, as a distinguished wing of the D.Z. Patel Cardiology Centre at Mahagujarat Hospital in Nadiad, stands as a testament to the Mahagujarat Medical Society’s commitment to advanced healthcare. Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Birju Shah, a renowned Cardio-Vascular and Thoracic Surgeon, this department has grown from a modest 2-bed unit with a small operating theatre to a robust 35-bed facility, comprising 12 general ward beds, 14 ICU beds, and 9 deluxe rooms.
Our state-of-the-art hybrid operation theatre, equipped with a cath lab and surgical unit, enables seamless integration of endovascular procedures and open surgeries, ensuring precision and efficiency in patient care. Dr. Birju Shah’s expertise has driven the department to achieve a remarkable milestone of over 5,000 successful vascular and thoracic procedures in just five years, making it one of the largest departments of its kind led by a single surgeon in Gujarat.
Our Services
The department offers a comprehensive range of procedures, including treatment for varicose veins, arterial blockages leading to gangrene, deep vein thrombosis, arteriovenous fistulas for dialysis, and advanced endovascular interventions. We also specialize in lung surgeries for conditions such as TB, empyema, cancers, and pneumonia, alongside thoracoscopic and bronchoscope procedures.
