Nadiad, Gujarat, is the district headquarters of Kheda District. It is the birthplace of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, situated between Ahmedabad and Vadodara, and is well connected by highways and railways. The town is also home to the famous Santram temple, a spiritual place with significant cultural and religious importance in the region.

Shri J.S. Ayurveda College & P.D. Patel Ayurveda Hospital, the oldest Ayurveda Institute in Gujarat, was established in 1938. Founded by Vaidya Sundartal Joshi, a freedom fighter and Ayurvedic physician, the Institute has gained global recognition for its standard education and notable success in managing chronic illnesses, including severe diseases like chronic renal failure. In 2007, the Institute boldly decided to switch from a grant-in-aid to a Self-Finance Institute (S.F.I.) to accelerate the pace of development. The Institute became S.F.I. on 1st September 2007. This day is celebrated as Svanirbhara Divasa every year, a testament to its global standing.

J.S. Ayurveda College and P. D. Patel Ayurveda Hospital, Nadiad, now a constituent institute of M.A.M. University, are managed by Mahagujarat Medical Society, a charitable non-government organisation established in Nadiad. The Society is deeply committed to health care and health education in this part of the country. In addition to this Institute, it manages two speciality hospitals in cardiology and oncology, a general hospital, and one Nursing College, all dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare and education.

Presently, the Institute has an intake capacity of 100 seats for B.A.M.S., 45 seats for P.G., and Ph.D. in 8 subjects. The Institute is accredited by N.A.A.C. and N.A.B.H. and has a 4-star rating in G.S.I.R.F. for its quality educational and health services. It has attained the Highest “A” Grade in the “National Rating and Ranking” conducted by NCISM and QCI Delhi for Ayurveda institutions across India. The attached Sundar Ayurveda pharmacy also has a GMP certificate.

The hospital has well-equipped O.P.D.s in all clinical branches of Ayurveda with special O.P.D.s for obesity and renal disorders. The hospital has an I.P.D. with 220 beds, including 38 special rooms, supported by necessary diagnostic and therapy sections. Patients from different parts of the country and abroad come to this hospital to get treatment of chronic ailments that are difficult to manage satisfactorily in conventional medicine. P.D. Patel Ayurveda Hospital, associated with the College, has executed a pilot project called “Argoya Samanvaya” in association with Govt. of Gujarat. It is an “Ayushman Bharat” component launched by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi. Now, it is intended to cover the entire India. The institute has the world’s first ECHO Hub for Ayurveda from which we distribute Ayurveda knowledge amongst community Health Officers nationwide.

The Institute has collaborated with renowned institutions at the national and international levels. It has significantly contributed to propagating Ayurveda in the West through global collaborations. Its primary collaborators are the European Academy of Ayurveda in Germany, having branches in Austria and Switzerland. Through this Institute, over 700 medical professionals and more than 8000 paramedical professionals in Europe have been trained in Ayurveda. The Institute also has a MoU with Ayurvedic Point, Italy.
